Cage of Deceit (Reign of Secrets #1) by Jennifer Anne Davis

Rating: 5/5 stars

Summary: Allyssa is a princess with a secret who is being arranged to marry a prince, also with a secret. Allyssa’s secret has the potential to put her in serious trouble, but the prince’s secret is too mysterious to even guess at. When all is revealed, it may be too late.

My Thoughts: I love love love this book. It’s about the daughter of the main characters of Davis’s other series, True Reign, but I actually first read this book before the other series. That entire series is awesome, and this book just continues that awesome train. It’s honestly all I want from a YA fantasy novel. Interesting, complex characters involved in an interesting, complex plot.

Reading it the second time around, it’s just as good, and even better knowing the secret at the end. You can really tell every detail is thought out.

Definitely read this if you’ve already read the first series, but also if you’re into princesses fighting assassins.
